14 mm Strand-woven Bamboo is much more stable than the 12mm. The thinner the Bamboo, the quicker it reacts to atmosphere changes, therefore more susceptible to taking on moisture & expanding into your walls!
Strand-woven bamboo means stripping the bamboo stalks then boiling the parts in water with boric acid (used to reduce fire hazard and remove sugars to prevent growth of termites, a safe process). The resulting material is woven with a plasticizer (therefore called strand woven). So this composite construction of Bamboo & glue is then cold pressed for 15 days, baked, then machined, kiln dried & air dried.
SO WHY NOT HOT-PRESSED?
Hot-pressed bamboo is produced in large sheets & is oven baked for 1 hour then left under pressure for only 1 day. Cold pressed Bamboo is pressed at room temperature into long steel moulds under pressure for 15 days, then oven baked for up to 20 hours. Then, the large bamboo blocks are machined into boards & kiln then air dried. This longer manufacturing process does incur more cost, but it produces a product with far superior appearance & stability, with no cold join cracks, better uniformity in colour, consistent density & more stable moisture content
Harvested every 6 years from the Arrow Sun sustainable plantation in China, making it a harder density material then processed in a quality controlled environment
No cancer producing compound VOC emissions
HOW TO MAINTAIN:
Static mop. Vacuum with brush head, then damp mop with Cork & Timber Cleaner once a fortnight
NEVER USE STEAM MOPS or any other non-recommended cleaning product
